Galapagos

Chase wonder

Stanford education extends beyond the classroom, and beyond your twenties.

Our panga bounced in the choppy water. We'd caught two flights, a bus, another flight, another bus, a ferry, another bus, and were finally at our destination -- an abandoned archipelago in the middle of the Pacific. The isolation of the Galápagos is its source of power; but also renders it devastatingly fragile.

Twelve Sophomore undergrads were there for a class called Darwin, Evolution, Galápagos. 30 alumni were there for a Continued Learning vacation. The professor was there to make sure everyone learned and stayed alive.

Stanford asked me to capture its community's love of learning as seen through the frame of this magical wilderness.
